Buy With Prime on Shopify
It’s no secret that Shopify and Amazon didn’t see eye to eye. The companies have butted heads in the past - most notably when Shopify warned its merchants against using Amazon’s Buy With Prime service last September.
But this week the two e-commerce giants seem to have made up with the announcement of a native “Buy With Prime” app in the Shopify app store.
What matters most to our merchants and their customers is: choice. We make that a reality with every partnership we execute.
Soon, Amazon will release an app in @Shopify’s app ecosystem that will give merchants who use Amazon’s fulfillment network the choice to add Buy with… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

The app will give Shopify merchants who also use Amazon’s fulfillment network the option to offer Buy With Prime to their Prime customers on their own website.
Customers will get access to Prime benefits like fast and free delivery outside of Amazon for the very first time. Merchants also benefit as they keep full control their brand and customer data within Shopify.
TikTok ending storefronts
As TikTok is making a big push in the West with TikTok Shop, it’s pulling resources away from its Shopify-integrated Storefronts feature and shutting it down on September 12.
Storefronts allowed merchants on Shopify (and other platforms) to sync their product catalogs with TikTok. The high-profile partnership and launch in 2021 attracted big-name brands like Kylie Cosmetics.
But soon after TikTok announced this, Harley tweeted that Shopify is collaborating with TikTok to launch something new.
Pretty sparse on the details so let’s see how this unfolds in the coming weeks.
Commerce on @TikTokBusiness is levelling up with @Shopify. We’re joining forces to launch something special to power the next generation of entrepreneurs and the creator economy 👀

App dev updates
App Store listing translations
One of the less popular growth hacking strategies on the Shopify App Store was to create translated listings of your app in other languages. Translated words would help apps rank higher in non-English speaking geographies.
This was always a grey area but not anymore.
Shopify has made an update to their App Store requirements to clearly state that any languages listed in the Languages section of the App Store listing have to be fully available in the app.
Built for Shopify
Since the launch of Built for Shopify at Summer ‘23 Editions, apps with the Built for Shopify badge are seeing a 50%+ increase in daily installs on average, with some nearly 3Xing their growth.
Built for Shopify all started with an idea that if we made it easier for merchants to discover great apps and gave developers the tools and guidance they needed to build them, we could create a virtuous cycle that helps everyone grow.
And that’s exactly what’s happening.

Most app devs we have spoken to are reporting a 20-30% increase in installs and net growth overall.
This looks like the next gold rush for App Store growth. In just 39 days since launch, an additional 48 apps have gotten the Built for Shopify badge.
The fact remains that Built for Shopify is something apps should aim to get especially if their primary growth lever is the Shopify App Store itself.
Pulse Check ⚡️
Inventory can be marked as “Unavailable” at specific locations to prevent it from being sold. Should help from overselling or protect stock while it’s undergoing repairs.
Files pages in admin have gotten theme tracking for files. This will be useful in finding which theme is referencing which specifc file.
The primary market in Shopify Markets can now be customized by changing its country, currency of preference, etc separate from your store’s general settings.
